Gaza International Festival for Video Art
June 19-24, 2010, Gaza - Jerusalem - Ramallah - Rafah - Jabalia - Bethlehem

Festival Overview
The overall idea of the project is to carry out an art festival under the title of: "Gaza's First Festival for Video Art 20 1 0". This idea is part of our dream and is an attempt to break the siege imposed on Palestinians in Gaza. It will also help us communicate with the other world. The idea of this project emerged of Gaza's dire need for creating a cultural atmosphere to improve the Palestinian cultural scene which has been badly affected by siege and isolation. The project also aims to bring new universal elements of art to Gaza to enrich the Palestinian culture which has witnessed a decline over the last a few years due to the deterioration of political, economic and social aspects of life, in addition to the inability of Palestinian artists to move and travel and many Arab and international artists are unable to come to Gaza. Therefore, this festival will send an open invitation to artists from all over the globe to participate in the festival and to create an opportunity for local artists to participate and contribute to the Video Art Festival. This will give the audience a chance to enjoy, appreciate and reflect on the local and international cultures. An invitation will be sent through e-mail to several cultural and artisitical institutions and individuals and advertised on cultural-based websites

Cupar Arts Festival, Oct 10-25 2009, Cupar, Scotland
Cupar Arts Festival is organised by Cupar Arts & Heritage Project (CAHP). Our second Festival will take place this October.
Cupar is an old market town located in rural Fife, Scotland. The Festival includes visual art/public art installations and
interventions, music, performance poetry, film, literature, artist's talks and workshops, and a children's programme
.

"Guitar Heroes" – a selection of artists’ films - curated by
Laura Simpson
Laura Simpson has chosen to screen a programme of three international artists’ films before one of the Festival music events at the Corn Exchange. Two films will be projected before the band come on stage. These short works by Andrew MacLean and Antti Savela explore relationships between identity, music and enjoyment.
Another film, by Dennis Tan, will play on a monitor within the venue. This more durational piece is a literal deconstruction of music.
As the guitarist featured repeats a refrain the artist interferes so that the visual and aural manifestation of the music falls apart.
All the works take elements of the familiar and make something new, remixing the performance and along with its cultural associations.
